ANNOUNCING...

... A NEW INITIATIVE ENPOWERING ANYONE WHO BELIEVES THEATRE AND THE CLASSICS SHOULD BE ASCCESIBLE TO EVERYONE,  NOT JUST A PRIVILIGED ELITE.

While we were looking the other way, something unthinkable happened.

In just over a decade, the last conservative government succeeded where The Black Death, the Puritans, Spanish Flu, the Blitz and COVID all failed.

Through brutal funding cuts and an equally devastating side-lining of arts education for lower-income kids they have all but destroyed theatre in the UK, beyond the West End and a few juggernaut touring musicals.

To compound matters a new labour government, struggling to counter the chaos they have inherited looks unlikely to pour funding into something fewer and fewer people are engaged with or even conscious of.

Grant making organisations are massively over subscribed to plug the gap, and no sensible entrepreneurs will be investing in something for which there’s currently no appetite.

All of which has resulted in a desperate situation whereby there's
very little meaningful theatre -

1. That is regularly affordable to everyone

2. That's performed in accessible venues where everyone can feel at ease

3. That will inspire a diverse new generation of artists

4. That will nurture a committed and engaged future audience.

And the classics? Our shared heritage... the great masterpieces of world story telling and kids literature which belong to each and everyone of us... for the enrichment, education, inspiration entertainment of us all?

The classics are only being performed

to a small percentage of children

from wealthy schools

which can still offer

an introduction to the arts

that's unavailable,

and regarded irrelevant

to lower income families.

The words of history's greatest story tellers,

thinkers and poets,

are now only performed

for a tiny minority of us

that are comfortable

in a handful of prestige venues,

as interpreted by

the dwindling number of artists

who are lucky enough to work there.

But it doesn't have to stay that way!

Whether you've ever loved watching

or making theatre...

whoever you are,

where ever you are,

no matter how little

or how much

spare time

or money

you have...

YOU can help us make a difference.
